Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use our websites, forms, SMS program, phone calls, emails, portals, or other services that link to this policy (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy unless a separate agreement states otherwise for a specific engagement.
1. Information we collect
We may collect the following categories of information, depending on how you interact with us:
- Contact and identity data: name, phone number, email address, mailing address, and similar identifiers you provide on forms, by phone, or through a client portal.
- Tax and financial data: information you choose to share for consultations or representation (for example, tax years, balances, notices, income information, and documents you upload or send).
- Communications: call recordings where permitted and consented, voicemails, SMS message content, chat logs, and email correspondence.
- Device and technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, general location derived from IP, pages viewed, referring URLs, and timestamps.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 5.
2. How we use information
We use information for lawful business purposes, including to:
- Respond to inquiries, schedule consultations, and deliver requested Services.
- Provide tax resolution and related professional services consistent with engagement terms.
- Send transactional messages (appointment reminders, receipts, intake steps, deadlines).
- Send optional marketing or educational messages where permitted, including SMS if you opt in separately.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve our websites and systems.
- Comply with law, regulators, subpoenas, and internal policies.
- Prevent fraud and abuse and protect the rights, property, and safety of our clients, firm, and others.
3. SMS program and consent
Our SMS messages may include appointment reminders, service updates related to our work with you, tax-related deadline notices, account notifications, or occasional promotional messaging about Sabio Tax services. Frequency varies based on deadlines, reminders, follow-ups you request, or campaigns we run.
Opting into SMS happens only when you take a clear affirmative step (such as submitting a form with an unchecked optional consent box that you choose to select, signing a disclosure, or texting a keyword we advertise). Providing your mobile number alone does not automatically enroll you, unless a separate lawful basis applies and is documented.
Standard message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier plan. Reply STOP to unsubscribe from SMS at any time. Reply HELP for help or contact us using the information in Section 8 or our Terms of Service.
No sale or sharing of SMS opt-in data for marketing unrelated to Sabio Tax. We do not sell, rent, lease, or share SMS consent or phone numbers provided for our SMS program to third parties for their own unrelated marketing purposes. Messaging is sent by or on behalf of Sabio Tax to support our lawful services and lawful communications permitted by consent and law. Disclosure may still occur to service providers that host messaging technology under contract (for example, a compliant SMS platform), or when required by law.
4. Data security practices
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Examples include access controls, secure hosting environments, encryption in transit where appropriate, and vendor diligence. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Cookies, analytics, and similar technologies
Our site may use cookies, local storage, pixels, analytics tools, embedded content, session logs, heatmaps (if deployed), or similar technologies to remember preferences, understand aggregated traffic patterns, detect errors, reduce fraud risk, measure marketing performance, and improve user experience.
Depending on jurisdiction, you may be able to use browser controls to refuse some cookies or use industry opt-outs where offered. Blocking certain cookies may limit site functionality.
6. Disclosure of information
We may share information with:
- Service providers assisting us under confidentiality and security obligations (for example: CRM, billing, telecommunications, messaging platforms, scheduling, accounting, hosting, document collection, cybersecurity).
- Professional collaborators as needed with your authorization or lawful basis.
- Government entities, regulators, or courts where required.
- In connection with a merger, financing, restructuring, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of assets.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending where you reside, privacy laws may grant you rights that can include:
- Access or obtain a copy of certain personal information we hold.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of certain information, subject to legal exceptions.
- Opt out of certain marketing communications (email and SMS have separate controls).
- Appeal a decision we make about a privacy request, where applicable.
